We are a regulated care provider

Hygea Homecare operates within the regulatory framework established by the Quality Care Commission (CQC), England’s independent health and social care services regulator.

The CQC’s pivotal role is to ensure that health and social care providers, such as Hygea Homecare, consistently deliver safe, effective, compassionate, and high-quality care to people, providing a reassuring standard for our operations.

The CQC employs a comprehensive assessment and inspection process to monitor and evaluate care providers’ performance. This process includes a combination of announced and unannounced inspections. CQC inspectors review various aspects of a provider’s operations, including the quality of care, safety protocols, governance structures, and overall patient experience.

The outcomes of these inspections are compiled into detailed reports and ratings, which are made publicly available.

FAQ's

Care can be confusing, and sometimes challenging to talk about. We’ve answered some common questions below.

It is essential that we ensure that all provisions are in place before care starts, we strive to complete the assessment, formulate a care plan, and gather GP summaries as quickly as possible. Sometimes in urgent cases we can turn this around within 24-48 hours, but can take up to 5 days from the assessment.

A comprehensive care assessment is designed to identify an individual's specific care needs and determine the support required to help them live comfortably and independently. This process is essential for those who may need assistance due to age, illness, disability, or other challenges that impact their ability to manage daily tasks. The assessment helps create a personalised care plan that addresses physical and emotional needs, ensuring individuals receive the appropriate support.

During the initial assessment our team also carry out a environmental assessment, this will look into whether any equipment or aids are recommended to carry out care safely. We will make referrals to the relevant organisations to help facilitate any required aids.

Hygea Homecare provides specialised care for individuals recovering from or living with the effects of a stroke. Their caregivers are typically trained in stroke care, which includes understanding the physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges that stroke survivors may face. This training allows caregivers to assist with mobility, daily activities, and rehabilitation exercises and provide support for communication difficulties and emotional well-being.

Our carers are throughly trained both on digital platforms, and practical workshops throughout their career. We also provide level 2 and level 3 in Advanced Dementia courses, to broaden the knowledge of dementia care practices.

These are very rare occurrences, but when they do happen, management is on standby. Our systems are monitored around the clock, and we can immobilise another carer or other managers to cover the call. So your loved ones never go without their visit.

Yes. Every carer we work with must have a good level of written and spoken English.

If you’d prefer a carer who also speaks a second language, simply let us know.

Paying for care is managed through a direct debit directly with the client/family. If you are receiving funding through other means such as social services in full or part, you will need to contact your social worker to arrange provisions of care under Hygea Homecare.

If you or a family member is living with an on-going health condition, it is worth applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare too. If you meet the criteria, this form of funding will cover every penny of your care costs. However, bear in mind that this funding is reserved for complex conditions which may fall out of the scope of what a self-employed carer can provide.
